BACKGROUND

This conference in collaboration between Directorate Higher Education, Ministry of National Education Republic of Indonesia and IndoCARE.

On behalf of the conference’s organizing committee, we would like to invite you to join us in Indonesian Conference on Children with Special Needs – Multi Perspective on Inclusion, which will be held in Jakarta, from the 11th to the 13th March 2010.

The Conference is to compare the multi-disciplinary understanding of inclusion in different perspectives in some countries and to get various experiences with eclectic approaches. Further, this conference is to dedicate to children with special needs and their families in Indonesia.

The objectives of this conference are to open up the possibilities for Children with Special Needs to enter inclusive education and support mainstream school to accommodate inclusive education, to increase teachers’ awareness and knowledge towards special needs, to collaborate with government in outreaching people with special needs and to educate parents or caregivers on bond strengthening with their children who have special needs.

Hence, by integrating knowledge from various perspectives, we hope "Inclusion: An Achievable Goal?" and "Journey of Inclusion : Will you make it possible ?" question can be answered.

Jakarta is a capital city of Indonesia which has various cultural attractions coming from all over Indonesia. We believe, visiting Jakarta will be an enjoyable time for you.

VENUE

The conference will be held at auditorium of Higher Education Function Room, building D - Ministry of National Education Republic of Indonesia. Jl. Jend. Sudirman Pintu 1 Senayan Jakarta Selatan - Indonesia

CONFERENCE TIME TABLE

The programme is designed to highlight various perspectives on inclusion and eclectic approaches which will be benefit to those who like to know in depth about Children with Special Needs. This concerns scientists, bureaucrat in the field of special needs inclusive education, practitioners: headmasters, teachers, school managers, family members.

On Day 1, there will be Speakers from various countries, talking about multi perspective on inclusion.

On Day 2, there will be 2 x 5 parallel sessions + 1 join talk on parent testimonials on various subjects on special needs education.

On Day 3, there will be field trip to IndoCARE, please see performance from IndoCARE Education Centre's Students (optional)
